Thomas And Joshua Berry And Shelley Cattell
Joshua, Daniel and Thomas Berry after a Liverpool game in 2007
We have decided to join together to run again in this year’s City2Surf in memory of our brother and friend, Daniel Berry, who passed away on 8th July 2013 from a brain tumour.
He had a Grade IV Multiforme Glioblastoma. Dr Charlie Teo operated on him on Christmas Eve of 2012 and gave us an extra 6 months with him. We were very grateful for this so we want to raise money to go towards brain cancer research so that other families don’t have to go through what we did.
Daniel was a Paralympic athlete who inspired many people with his determination to overcome challenges and to embrace every opportunity that he was given. He was a fighter and a true champion who never once complained. He ran in the City2Surf in 2012 in a time of 67 minutes which was the last race he ran in before his final deterioration and so we want to run again in this year’s City2Surf in memory of this.
Daniel deteriorated so quickly after the City2Surf that he was in a wheelchair 3 months later but still managed to complete the “Walk for Brain Cancer” in Manly towards the end of November. He ended up in hospital the following week which is when Dr Teo operated on him. Due to complications he remained in hospital for another 6 months but was able to come home to spend his final 2 weeks with us.
We are calling on friends and family and businesses to sponsor us in our ‘Runnung For Daniel’ quest. Please help us help ‘Cure Brain Cancer’ by donating money. Any amount will be appreciated. Help us raise money to find a cure.
The more people that know about the ‘Cure Brain Cancer Foundation’ the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing our page with your family and friends. Thank you in advance for your generosity. It means a lot!!
